ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) presented twelve of its scientists and engineers the first annual Anne Mulcahy Inventor Award, an honor created to shine the spotlight on inventors whose patents opened up new growth opportunities for the company.

 

Named in honor of Xerox’s retired chairman and chief executive officer, Anne Mulcahy, the awards were presented to eight recipients on Monday in Rochester by Mulcahy, Ursula Burns, Xerox chairman and CEO; Jim Firestone, president of Xerox Operations Group; Wim Appelo, president of Xerox Global Business and Services Group; and Sophie Vandebroek, chief technology officer and president of the Xerox Innovation Group.

 

“During her tenure, Anne was an amazing champion for innovation. This award recognizes scientists and engineers that generate strategic intellectual property portfolios,” said Vandebroek. “The inventors honored this year are innovators who are excellent at dreaming up an idea and turning it into differentiated technology or service that addresses customers’ pain points and drives high business value for Xerox.”

 

Scientists and engineers receiving this Anne Mulcahy Inventor Award span activities from early stage research to product development to manufacturing. All of these inventors have worked on patents for Xerox’s most recognizable products and services. Awardees include:

Xerox employees who have obtained at least one patent were eligible for the award. The awardees were evaluated based on those patents that have high business value to Xerox as well as the creation of a strategic patent portfolio that target future growth.

 

The event also honored the 2009 patent recipients with 230 inventors in attendance.
